Support For Charity Christmas Gift Collection

This Christmas the Baker Leasing Community Programme has chosen to support Bucks County Council in their campaign to collect Christmas presents for the children in our local area who are in the care and foster care system.

The collection involves donating and collecting donations of gifts suitable for boys and girls aged up to 18 years old. The presents do not need to be wrapped as they are all sorted and allocated before being wrapped and delivered to the appropriate child in time for Christmas.

Here is the information from the press launch for the appeal:-

County Council launches its Christmas present appeal for vulnerable local children

County councillors have today launched their annual Christmas present appeal to help Buckinghamshire’s vulnerable children and young people.

The annual appeal, now in its fourth year, is being led by Paul Irwin, Deputy Cabinet Member for Transportation and Mark Shaw, Deputy Council Leader & Cabinet Member for Transportation. Staff from across the County Council and county councillors are invited to donate Christmas presents throughout December for disadvantaged and vulnerable children across the county. The many hundreds of donated presents will then be wrapped and handed over to deserving children and young people by members of the Council’s Children’s Services teams in time for Christmas.

Paul Irwin said: “I’m so thrilled that we are running the Christmas present appeal again – it’s honestly one of the best things I get to do all year! I know how much everyone at the Council wants to help local vulnerable children and young people, and I’ve seen for myself what a difference it makes to so many families.”

Supporting the Council’s appeal this year are the congregation of Aylesbury’s Salvation Army Church as well as a range of local organisations including Argos stores in Milton Keynes who are donating presents from their own toy appeal to the Council appeal.

Warren Whyte, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “It’s fantastic to know that at such a hectic time of year, our staff and councillors pull together to help make other families’ Christmas that little bit better. Thank you in advance to everyone who brings in a present; it will really make a big difference to the children and young people we work with.”

As a family run business this cause is close to our hearts. At this time of year, it is great to be able to give back to our local community and appreciate how fortunate we are.

If you would like to donate a gift to join the collection the deadline for us to receive it is 10th December.
